One of the best places to get free historical end of day price data going back over 60 years is still finance.yahoo.com.
Yahoo Finance provides historical price data that can be easily downloaded into Microsoft Excel and then used through the spreadsheet to backtest and study by creating formulas and filters.
Here are the steps to download the historical stock data.
Step 1 go to finance.yahoo.com.
Step 2 is to key in a search for the ticker symbol you want to download data on.
Step 3 is to click on the ‘historical data’ tab on the page for the ticker symbol you want.
Step 4 filter time period for the length of price data you want to download.
Step 5 open a Microsoft excel document on your computer and ensure you access to this software spreadsheet.
Step 6 click download to send the selected time period of price data to your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
Step 7 The price data will appear in your Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet but you will need to adjust colum width in Excel for full visiabilty of all the information.
Step 8 You can use the price data for backtesting or research by creating formulas in Excel.
This is the quickest and easiest way I know of to download historical stock data for free online if you already have access to Microsoft Excel.

The Nasdaq website allows the download of U.S. stock market data. To download data for APAM, click this URL then click on the download link at the bottom.
Stooq is a Poland based company its databases can be found here through this link. You can download data in CSV or Metastock format for many markets including U.S stocks, U.K stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, indices, and more. Data is available here in daily, hourly and 5 minutes format.
